A
PLACE FOR HEALING
OURSELVES!
Welcome to S.O.U.L. We respect
every individual as a unique and loved creation. We respect all
faiths and spiritual paths. We are not afraid to hear unique or
new points of view presented on our podium. We are an organization
that calls itself a church, yet we have no dogma that you must
accept to be one with us. We are a spiritual family that meets
once a week to hear words and music that carry inspiration, not
judgment.

a Culture of Peace

We pray for all
people. We pray for our leaders. We pray for the healing
of the world. We pray for peaceful solutions to all situations.
Amen

OUR
S.O.U.L. VISION STATEMENT
WE
BELIEVE THERE IS A SPIRITUAL ENERGY, CALLED GOD IN MOST CULTURES,
WHICH IS BOTH THE SOURCE AND ESSENCE OF EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS
IN THE UNIVERSE.
WE
UNDERSTAND THAT THIS SPIRIT FREELY MANIFESTS ITSELF WHERE, WHEN
AND HOW IT WILL, AND THAT UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IS ALWAYS THE ESSENCE
AND END OF THIS DIVINE SELF-EXPRESSION.
WE
DECLARE EVERY INDIVIDUAL TO BE AN EXPRESSION OF SPIRIT, PRECIOUS
AND LOVEABLE IN THEIR OWN RIGHT, WITH A UNIQUE PURPOSE AND PLACE
IN THE UNIVERSE. WE ARE DIRECTED TO NURTURE, RESPECT AND LOVE
ONE ANOTHER AND THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE IN THE SAME WAY GOD LOVES
US.
WE
AFFIRM THAT THIS CHURCH EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF KEEPING OPEN
A PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR SPIRIT TO MANIFEST ITSELF AS US, THROUGH
US, AND AROUND US.

A
CHURCH WITHOUT DOGMA
We
established S.O.U.L. as an independent church, taking
with us the rich history and traditions of the New Thought
philosophers.
S.O.U.L. is far more than a single, weekly worship service.
We are a church family and we have outreaches, workshops,
and other gatherings in conjunction with and as a part
of our overall mission, which is to teach, heal, and inspire,
and provide a place where people can express their love
of God , Spirit or whatever their Higher Power is. We
do not insist on particular dogma or strict adherence
to a designated ritual. We are not afraid to hear new
ideas, or provocative or controversial speakers. New ways
to connect to Spirit and healing are free to be expressed
and explored at S.O.U.L.
S.O.U.L.
does not employ a minister and is not affiliated with
any other group. However, we do respect other teachings,
and all spiritual paths. We allow for self-expression
by all members of our community that are drawn to us.
We are all part of the spiritual consciousness of South
Florida.
Several ministers of various denominations are affiliated
with S.O.U.L. and are available for spiritual counseling,
performance of services, and special celebrations. S.O.U.L.
is truly a full-service church and blessed by many performers
and spiritual leaders in our area.
S.O.U.L.
tithes on the weekly collection and provides financial
assistance to worthy causes. The collections also help
to pay our rent, hire speakers and musicians, and cover
our operating expenses for phone, website, and our bi-monthly
newsletter called "HEART & SOUL" This publication
is sent free of charge to a growing list of members of
the local spiritual community.

SUNDAY
SERVICES
Our
services are held at the South Miami
Community Center at 5800 SW 66 Street, just north of
The Shops at Sunset Place. Take SW 57th Avenue (Red
Road) north from US-1 (Dixie Hwy) to SW 66 Street, and
turn left. The Center is up about a block on your left.
(You will see a sign, but the building itself is not
visible from the street.)
Individuals
in the group plan services, and there has been no shortage
of new ideas. People work individually or in teams, providing
everything from the flowers to planning the programs.
Our speakers and musicians are found by our Program Directors,
Jackie Johns and Shirley Merrett-Hall.
This has led to a diverse calendar of programs, and each
week is a delightful surprise.
We like to think of ours as an "open" pulpit
for anyone, not an earned privilege for a few. Each Sunday
is a healing and uplifting experience. S.O.U.L. has the
freedom of an independent church to truly celebrate Spirit
by allowing individuals to be involved in every aspect
of the church.
Every
week following the service we enjoy a brief social gathering
and a pot-luck luncheon. Volunteers are welcome to attend
our monthly Team Spirit meetings. This group is critical
to keeping S.O.U.L. functioning as a place for Spirit
to continue to manifest itself as us, through us, and
around us. Indeed, without Team Spirit and all our volunteers
we could not exist.
